Massimo Maio is Director of Operations at Water for Cambodia, an American-Cambodian non-profit based in Siem Reap, Cambodia, whose mission is to help local communities source and maintain sustainable clean water. As part of his duties, Massimo is also responsible for the social enterprise Rikreay Lab, the only laboratory in the province of Siem Reap, specialising in water and food testing. Rikreay’s profit funds Water for Cambodia projects.
Spending the last 20 years in the water treatment sector, Massimo Maio has gained extensive experience in the creation and project management of desalination plants in Africa and the Middle East.
His degree with honours in International Cooperation and Conflict Resolution from the University of Pisa has proved invaluable while working in culturally and politically diverse areas of the world. He is an experienced site manager with technical expertise in water treatment and membrane desalination technologies, ranging from seawater to brackish plants.
Massimo is also the co-founder of Access Water, a community interest company based in London that supports people to source and maintain sustainable clean water for drinking, sanitation, and irrigation.
