Developing Talents in Cambodia by the Italian-Cambodian Business Association (ICBA), a program that aims to build cultural bridges between Italy and Cambodia for talented university students In Italy, celebrates one year from its official launch as a Virtual Internship Program.

In December 2020, ICBA conducted the first pilot in partnership with the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice and joined their “Internships Abroad- Around the World with Ca’ Foscari” remotely.

Following the initiative’s success,  in February 2021, ICBA  signed an agreement with IULM university in Milan to partner with their online  Internship Abroad Programme.

Since its launch, “Developing Talents in Cambodia” has seen 20 students involved from remote and offered them 500 tutorship hours online.

The Virtual Internship  Program, created as a temporary solution to allow students from Italian universities still to undertake a working experience from home in times of pandemic, has become a mainstream initiative at the ICBA.

Says Luisa Gentile, ICBA Advisor and promoter of the Online Internship Program:

“We appreciate that students are not getting the “in-person” direct experience of working in Cambodia. However, they can still acquire real-work expertise, even from home. For instance, distance working requires students to be proactive, show initiative, learn to use digital tools, to work independently and flexibly with project-based assignments. These are invaluable skills for a  resume.

In addition, thanks to weekly review via video calls with the dedicated tutor(and I am proudly one of them!), the students can review their progress, receive guidance and feel connected and engaged with their project”.

ICBA plans to continue the Virtual Internship Program for the foreseeable future and is looking forward to partnering with other Italian universities to offer graduates and young professionals more opportunities to understand Italian businesses in the Cambodian market.

ICBA is also searching for more prospects in Cambodia to join its internship program. If you are a Cambodia-based Italian professional or organization interested in tutoring online or a student from an Italian university, please get in touch with Luisa Gentile.
